I have been investigating different options on shooting onboard video. I almost got myself the VIO POV.1 helmet camera but decided not to buy it after all. First of all, it's pretty expensive and secondly it looked like a lot of trouble to mount it on the bike.
This may not be the optimal solution either but I just bought Panasonic SDR-S9 . It's a very simple SD memory card digital video camera. Cost was sensible(?) and I think it's a bit easier to set it up on the bike. I think I'll be shooting from front and rear only i.e. I'll just tape the thing on the gas tank or on the rear seat cover.
It remains to be seen how well this thing actually works. There is typically a lots of vibration and also the scenery is changing fast when shooting from a motorcycle. I have tested one of the cheapest helmet cams around and it couldn't handle the vibration. Video stream ended up messy and nasty looking. |
